How do I know if this site (bargainholidaystenerife.com) is legitimate

Anyone booked accommodation with a site called www.bargainholidaystenerife.com or Top Tours Ltd.

I am looking to book accommodation in Tenerife. I have checked out all the popular sited 1800Hotels, Alpharooms, etc. but none of them have particular apartments I’m looking for. Apparently they take booking for privately owned apartments. I phoned up the apartments and they hadn’t heard of them, but they said that the apartment owners could use them for holidays letting.

Their prices are very reasonable, but I can’t find any info. about them on the net. In their Terms & Conditions they give details of company registration in UK and Germany, but anyone could lift that information from the net.

I am a bit worried about paying up front and then left without accommodation.

Has anyone booked or heard of them or can anyone give me advice about how to check them out.

From what you've said in your post that would be enough for me not to book them.

OP, I'm amended your thread title. You'll get more people looking at your thread if you give it a clear title (and one that isn't SHOUTING BY USING CAPITALS!) :)

No contact details (address!) on the website.

On this page they have this

In the near future we will also try to provide you with a contact phone number in the UK which also will only be available for a few hours per day.

That just shouts dodge at me !

The domain may only have been registered on 01 October 2008? Although I could be reading it wrong here

I would suggest you avoid. It if seems too good to be true then it usually is.

They have two addresses and company details listed in their Terms & Conditions at the bottom of the page, London and Germany. I checked the company reg. number they listed with UK Company Registration office. and there is a company called Top Tours. But if I can find all that information so can the scammers. Checked UK phone directory, there’s no Top Tours listed.

Their website looks very professional and Terms & Conditions look very credible. But everything leads to a dead end.

Defo cant agree with you on that, FOr a hliday company that is one of the most basic websites i have ever seen. The amount of home made animated .gifs is extremely unprofessional, I would avoid this like the plague, its not worth the risk. Also the page where you enter you details is not ssl secured. If im not mistaken any mainstream e-teller that takes any of your infor should have an ssl secured page for taking your details, with identity theft in its prime at the mo thats the last thing you want on your hands

Terms and conditions are fairly dodgy too.
In term 5 you'll see this at the end

    Top Tours:
"does not take any responsibility in the event that the accommodation or service is not of the expected standard. Any complaints or claims for compensation must be made direct to the vendors or their agents/administration services"
Correct me if im wrong but arent the travel agents themselves responsible for something that isnt of the expected standard as you pay the travel agent so the contract is between the buyer (you) and the agent?

And why does it have a logo for the IATA (international Air Transport Association) at the bottom of the contact us page, Looks like its a bunch of people who dont know what their doing trying to make their page 'Look' professional
    Id avoid it mate!!!

    Hello,
I also wanted to book an apartment in Parque Santiago 3 in august of this year with www.bargainholidaystenerife.com or www.grancanariaholiday-online.com. But after reading all of this on the net, I thought it might be a little bit (read: very) suspicious.

This guy wrote me this :

Top Tours Ltd is established since 1997. You can look it up at www.companieshouse.gov.uk.
This is the official register of all UK registered companies.
    Name & Registered Office:
    TOP TOURS LIMITED
    58-60 KENSINGTON CHURCH STREET
    LONDON
    W8 4DB
    Company No. 03425285
    Status: Active
    Date of Incorporation: 27/08/1997
    Country of Origin: United Kingdom
    Company Type: Private Limited Company
    Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
6330 - Travel agencies etc; tourist

We are also a IATA member.
(Toptours do have an IATA number, but bargainholidaytenerife doesn't ! I have checked this !!)

but when I contacted the real Toptours Ltd (http://www.top-tours-ltd.de)
they told me that they had never heard of this guy...
So he is abusing the companyname of Toptours !!
