I've not played New Forest yet but Glasson is a quality course and well worth the visit....

That's not the kind of blanaced answer you wanted i'm sure but there you go...

Hi, I've played both and they are both great courses, don't know which to recommend ahead of the other. Depends on where you are travelling from. New Forest might be dryer and in better shape at this time of year, less busy.

    cheers folks,

Heading to Athlone from Dublin .. Was chatting to a few at work and think New Forrest would be a lot dryer. Played Glasson same time last year and was a bit wet under foot..

IMO Glasson is one of the finest private courses in Ireland. The owner made a considerable investment in both the course and hotel.
It is an ideal venue for a group outing.

Have played both, and Glasson would be miles ahead in my book. Might be a tad softer underfoot but better for winter golf as rough is not as penal.

I've played New Forest and while it's a good course there are a couple of holes which let it down. The first par 5 has a tree which blocks anything in the centre or left side of the fairway. The index 1 also has a tree in the centre of the fairway and some drains on either side which give you now options.

I'd go for glasson if I was in your shoes. An alternative choice would be Moyvalley, which I played last week. Fairways were very dry and the greens are fantastic. Good course for €60.
