Series 6 - The 2007/2008 flag ship model. There are 2 sub models in it 656 and 686. The 686 replaces the 656 and is only a slight update (mostly cosmetic).

Series 7 - new 2008/2009 has two sub models the 756 and 786. 756 is a bigger update on the 6 series. Better contrast ratio and updated processing engine etc. It also has arange of multi media featrues that let you view video, audio and pictuees off USB devices and off your home network (if yo have one. It can also get a limited amount of stuff off the internet. 786 is very interesting as it has a new backlight technology. It uses LED's instead of CFL to light up the screen. This has alot of advantages but its a very new technology. 786 doesnt have all of the media features that the 756 has.

8 Series - New in 2008/2009 These are ultra thin versions of the 756. Much slimmer then the rest of the range.

9 Series - New 2008/2009 flagship model. Has LED backlight like the 786 and all the media featues of the 756. Also has a fancy remote and a mini "pebal" remote.

Obviously thats the short version. 7's, 8's and 9's can be hard to find ATM they have been in the UK for about a month but only hitting the shops here now. I have seen a 786 in PowerCity. Prices vary wildly. It would be chaper for me to have a 46" 786 shipped from the UK then buy a 40" one in PowerCity for example!! Reviewers have reported a number of issues with the 786 and 956's including input lag.
