What's the building beside Marine science

    on the way into college, going in the entrance across from Wards, just wondering what the big boring looking grey building is before you come to marine scince building...

    it's something random I wonder about every morning as I rush past (yes, there is little else going on in this noggin of mine).. just thought I'd throw it out here rather than walking into the computer suite and announcing "where am i?"

    There's no sign or anything, just think it looks kinda odd, not nice looking architecture wise IMO..just curious:) It's not on any campus maps.

    Anything to distract me from study!!

    I always thought it was some nurses lab building, but I don't know why!

    ...I think someone told me.....thought that could have been me.....:)

    Its an annexe to the MRI building where theres research and teaching labs, a seminar room and offices.

    Most of my lectures are in there (and the quad) Thank feck I ain't in the concourse!

    My beloved Concourse... It resembles a Soviet Russian apartment block. And to think its a preserved building :confused:

    I'm damn glad I'm in the concourse, everything is near by and there is always a bit of life in the place.
    As for the MRI, the story goes that the rich yank who funded the building (Marin Ryan's son I believe) didn't like the original design (which included the necessary labs and the like) and refused to fund it unless the design was changed, which it was and now it's more classical looking from the outside but is terribly pokey inside, so the the "annex" was built a few years later and they lived happily ever after!

    My beloved Concourse... It resembles a Soviet Russian apartment block. And to think its a preserved building :confused:

    As far as I know it was originally designed to be an airport building (hence the towers) and they were too cheap to redesign... I could be wrong though.
