Meh, was never overly impressed with it really.

Like most boxing films the fight scenes are very unrealistic and de Niro is just doing his same ol' same ol'.

What a film. So full of classic scenes

The scene where he meets his brother near the end is one of my fav in cinema history.

I dont think the fight scenes were supposed to be realistic, they were overly stylised on purpose to represent LaMotta's isolation, self loathing and masochism. The "never got be down Ray" fight where he's against the ropes getting beaten perfectly represents the brutality and the lonlieness of the sport for me, I think its amazing.

Anyway I think its an amazing film and amongst the every best work that Scorcesse, De Niro and Pesci have ever done which is saying alot.
