ok so awhile ago my flatmate got an aria pro II that had gotten the headstock snapped clean off, originally the plan was to reglue the neck but then i remembered he had just crappy old les paul copy in the shed,
    one of these...
    http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Satellite/Les+Paul+Copy/10/1

so i thought why not transplant the neck of the Lp onto the aria?
well here's how it mocks up!

    I think it might work!
i have a cheapo bigsby rip-off that i bought cheap in Helsinki,it looks like it'll fit too

anyway he doesn't have time or cash to fix it and i'm pretty sure i'd get it for the trade of a pedal
so do you guys think this project is worth the effort?
i was thinking a set of BG pickups real 90's would be cool too, maybe even cream ones!!

That looks cool! Do it for sure, but first things first, just measure the neck to make sure the scale length is the same or there's no point. quick way is to take a string and measure first fret to the 12th, then see if the same length starting from the 12th fret corresponds with where the studs for the bridge are.

You know it needs some TV Jones pickups :D

yep the distance from the nut to the 12th is equal to the distance from the 12th to the bridge, happy days :)

hmmm TV jones... *looks sheepishly at the box with the TV tron and TV tron classic still uninstalled in yet another project* :o

Just as an extra option there. In the mean time, what's this other project? :pac:

that'd be my jap jag with Tv jones, wired with a three way pickup switch like the jazzmaster to simplify the wiring,i also had pharoah amps make a class A booster to replace the "rhythm circuit",i'm currently waiting to have enough cash for a refinish by http://www.ron2e.co.uk/

Im liking that Aria body a lot. Its subtly different from a 335- infact it reminds me of the Framus Mayfield series. Would definitely be a good project. Who you gonna go to for the neck transplant? Might be an idea to give Derek Nelson a shout and give him a look at the body and neck and see if its do-able up to a decent standard.

The darkness of that fret board really complements the cherry!

Already loving it, hopefully it turns out well for you.

    cheers lads!
indeed the neck is surprisingly nice, needs a good oiling though
the Lp copy was early 80's i'd say, back when there was enough rosewood about that even cheap guitars got a decent plank put on

i'm going to do all this myself,my mate got the aria for sixty quid and i'm going to do this cheap as possible
the neck is a very close match it's pretty snug at the sides of the joint
the radius of the corners does need to be matched up,and the heel needs a bit of sanding, not too bad though

+1 for the TV Jones. I say go for it, we all know you have too many pedals anyway. I reckon it needs roller saddles too.
