The Ironic thing about this incident was that this happened at night which saved lives.

I like the fact that the place is full of asbestos. Hard to think the HSA would not have assessed in prior to opening a child care facility.

I was worried for a second there. I thought there was going to be no Sekrit Konspiracy behind it all.

I believe the building was behind the site of the nightclub. I presume asbestos regulations came into effect since the 1980ies. My old man used to go on about being used in the ESB. Its OK provided that it is not disturbed.

There are still thousands of buildings around the city legally using asbestos roofs that were built prior to regulations and there are different types of asbestos some being more harmful than others. The asbesdos used in roofs being the least harmful nevertheless it can only be removed by HSE licensed contractors and specialist equipment must be worn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asbestos

I can see a panic run for solicitors over this. :D

The premises which went on fire is on the same grounds as the old Stardust, but its in an entirely different building.

Have you been living under a rock?

That's like being a builder at ground zero and after a few months saying "Jaysus is there where the aul planes hit...... no waaaaaayy"

in my defence,i'm not originally from dublin.i'd heard of stardust but i didn't know where it was.though lucky this happened at night cos it would not have been an easy place to evacuate during the day, lots of play tunnels etc.

And loads of highly inflammible plastics giving off toxic fumes.

These places are death traps in any fire.

Its a wonder that they needed several units of Dublin fire brigade to put it out..

I'm sure this will lead to the 17,945th. inquest. Which when people dont get what they want will start a new one.
Yes it was tragic, but it's really starting to piss me off people still going on about it like it happened yesterday, nearly as bad as the whole Maddie thing....

Why would it lead to an inquest?

Because they seem to want an inquest opened every few years just so people remember.
    It's actually kind of childish.

    Open inquest.
    Don't get their way.
    Demand another one.
    Repeat

I posted something which could be construed as libellous.

Yeah probably but everyone knows it already. The same way everyone knows certain politicians are crooked. It's unlikely that the real truth will ever be officially acknowledged and that's a shame but it's not going to change anything.
