Guys looking for a bit of advice, I'm leaving the country for work in a while and have to sell my car and have never sold one here before and wondering what the options are for getting a decent price and selling relatively quickly.

The car is a 2006 Alfa Romeo GT (1.9JTD model)

I realise that at the moment sports cars and the like are probably selling more slowly so figured asking the people in the know would be the best option.

Is carzone/cbg etc a good option? Should I try to sell to a trade dealer? Any other options?

Carzone are now owned by Auto Trader and along with cbg.ie, offer the most popular places to sell. Go for the premium ad's as they will make your ad more visible when compared to the normal ads.

Check out the prices of similar Alfa GT's and set your asking price cheaper that the others. Your not going to get top dollar !

Words that just dont go together anymore !:o

However try to get as much coverage for you car as you can, ie. sites you have mentioned and some .
Its a pretty specialised car and diesel, so people who have this car im mind will tend to buy it *at the right price* - If you know what I mean.

    Good luck.

Just make sure the cheapest price on carzone for a GT is not a scammers "fake" car, search for scammers threads on boards for more details on that.

So, what would you consider a decent price in todays market?

I'm not sure, haven't looked around yet but around 25k probably...?

Stu....I think 25k is a bit optimistic mate

I've mine in for 27950 and its a 07. Not sure of your spec, but mines is a Monza spec.

Recently agreed on 26800 but buyer waiting for theirs to sell so it could be a long wait although they have a buyer lined up.

I would say somewhere around 21 for yours

Not what you wanted to hear, but best of luck

cheers lex.... just had a look at your add... not far off the spec of yours, and only 34k km on clock. It's the Lusso with extras on it...

I'll mind it for ya, while you're out of the country, if you like. ;)

Save you all the hassle of having to sell, that would..........:D

Personally, I think a sports coupe/diesel combo is a good one.
