Haven't played many courses around there but Roscrea is okay. It's on the main road and you'd probably get a good deal assuming you're not in the Adare Manor ball park.

Although Roscrea is very soft. Nice little track though. The old Adare Manor course (seperate from the new development) is quite nice too but havent played it in years.

    Dunmurry Springs - near Newbridge

Only downside is that they have no real clubhouse facilities.

Nenagh is pretty good too. About 10 miles from the main road but not too far from limerick. In bout limerick there is Limerick GC which Is probably pretty wet, Castletroy which is probably pretty wet and Limerick County which is probably pretty wet.(can you see a pattern emerging?!) THe Heritage in Portlaoise is on the way too. Pretty much every major town that is bypassed has a decent golf coarse!

Actually yeah, Nenagh is also decent.

All the courses seem to be in the same kinda above average parkland style. Like Newlands or The Castle. Nice, solid courses without being amazingly memorable.

played Millicent in the end. Course was in good nick, very long, and some very nice holes.

The absence of hot showers or food was problematic given we'd a long drive and evening ahead, but for 30 bills and no pressure on course it was worth while. Enjoyed the match in Limerick as well :D

    Depending on you budget....
Esker Hills is good - certainly hilly.
The Heritage Club is a great course.
The same guy owns Adare Manor.
If money was still plentyful, I think he would have been looking at having the Irish Open here.
The Sevy Challenge was there last year, but not well supported as there were no Irish guys on the team.

Never would have thought of there. Yeah it's a fun course to play - lots of driver holes that are open-ish. It is unfortunate about the lack of facilities. This is a growing trend with the market going the way it is, as well as drink-driving enforcement, it's unfortunate to see the decline of the golf club versus the increasing number of golf courses around.
