    Hiya.
Heading over to Istanbul for four days next week. Any tips on stuff to do that's off the tourist trail

Go to both sides of the river, the Asian side is less touristy.
My best memory was sitting in this cosy cafe smoking water pipe (tobacco), drinking strong coffee and playing backgammon with a friend.

Go to a Besiktas match, their stadium is fairly near the city centre.

Hagi Sophia and the Blue Mosque are well worth a look, as are the catacombs.

Go to one of the Turkish Baths there, the place where you're staying should have brochures about them.

Some good pubs and clubs near the pedestrianised street by Taksem Square.

Thanks for the replies. I'm staying on the Asia side. Read somewhere that Sultanahmet gets very quiet after dark so plan on doing the Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque stuff during daylight hours, and retreating to beyoglu to soak up some of the atmosphere when night falls.
Keep the suggestions coming. I really appreciate them...
