    hi all i recently recieved a speeding fine in the post and my name was spelt incorrectly on the notice what i want to know is would this make the penalty void???

    They'll reissue it with the correct one if you try and challenge it in court.

    I heard aswell if you take a policemans hat they can't do anything to you...

    Don't bother trying to appeal it. They'll just reissue it.

    Don't bother. The judge will call yo up to the stand, ask your name, and proceed to take the piss out of you for trying to ge off on a technicality.
    They can make the correction while you stand there in the doc.
    It will not work.
    Sorry 'bout that.

    ah well i,ll just have to take it on the chin and pay then fine and take the points, i tell ya one thing though the garda should have been in the army coz he was well camoflauge in that hedge that he jumped out of with his speed gun in hand

    twas in clonroche co .wexford on the edge of the village on the new ross direction i was heading back to our depot in waterford in my truck and got caught doin 66kph in a 30kph zone

    Possibly have a better chance of getting the case dismissed if they get the details exactly right, as that is a lot rarer than an error or two, the judge might want to get it framed.

    They know it doesn't really matter so some(many?) gardai make very little effort to get things right. Not very professional and notices go missing in the post as a result or at least can be claimed as having gone missing.
