I have no experience of Graphics tablets and was hoping to get one in the next few weeks. Does any one know of a reliable review site for Graphics Tablets or perhaps a forum more specialized than boards.ie?

Or any tips before i buy would also be welcome.

I have researched and 'wacom' tablets seem to be the best ones to go for. Better more informed opinions will follow I'm sure.

Yeah Wacom seems to be the market leader alright. I know they have a patent for a battery-less stylus. But they are a bit pricey.

I was looking to get good value (credit crunch:() so brand/market share don't really matter to me. Neither does battery-less stylus. I also don't really want a mouse or any software bundled with the Tablet. Just want a good Tablet, as large as I can afford.

I have a friend going to New York so was hoping to buy it in B&H's shop and get even more bang for my buck.

I had initially thought of going for this Wacom Bamboo (5.8" x 3.7"): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/520800-REG/Wacom_MTE450_Bamboo_Tablet_Small_Black_.html#features

but its a wee bit small and then I saw this Adesso CyberTablet Z12 (10 x 6.25"): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/515344-REG/Adesso_CYBERTABLET_Z12_CyberTablet_Z12_Graphics_Tablet.html

but I have no idea how good the Adesso is. I never heard of them!

These also looked interesting but again no idea how good they are:

    VisTablet (10 x 6.25"): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/568753-REG/VisTablet_98_903W10211_000_12_10_x_6_25_.html#features

    and

    Adesso CyberTablet 12000(12" x 9"): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/481433-REG/Adesso_CYBERTABLET_12000_CyberTablet_12000_9_x.html

    Get it. It's amazing.

That said. If you're a rich bastard, get a cintiq (spelling?)

Is that a Bamboo as opposed to a Bamboo Fun? I read that the Bamboo Fun has pressure sensitivity for the eraser, whereas the Bamboo doesn't.

I was wondering how important is that?

What size is your Bamboo? I could only afford a 5.8" x 3.7" Bamboo (or Bamboo Fun). Is that too small to be of practical use?

That's the one I have and it's fine. I have no problems with it.

I got a Trust Tablet it's really rubbish. I got it because it was cheap, I'll probably invest a bit more in the next one I get.

Is it just the lower grade tablets that pick up the tip of the stylus before they actually make contact?

This put me off using my "Trust" because there was so much movement before I intended to move at all. Leading to in-accuracy..

Do the Wacom's and other high end brands prevent this? I'd like to know before trying to re-invest in something more pricey!

Found this Wacom graphics tablet on their main website, seems a good price and a good size "147.6 x 92.3 mm" for the active area, maybe im wrong.

Would anyone know if this is a good size for drawing or is it too small?

I was in asda in Strabane yesterday and l bought a trust TB-5300 graphics tablet for £25 and it was great value I'm using right now for text input. It has 512 pressure sensitivity, wireless pen (takes a battery but still feels like a pen) 28 hot cells and its 16:9 aspect ratio. Ive used it with Photoshop CS3 and illustrator CS3, Autocad, open office writter, one note and Gimp. I'd highly recommend it still cent get over the price you might get on online somewhere. About. com have a could section on graphics tablets. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/aboutgraphics/a/graphicstablets.htm

    Hey,
I'm new and I'm not sure if I should even be posting here,
but I'm looking to get a Bamboo tablet from pixmania.com, it's for my boyfriend (I got him adobe flash cs4 for christmas) and I want to know if any one else has used this tablet and if they found it good, and if they know how much pressure it detects (I can't remember the correct word but you know what I mean) etc: http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/970153/art/wacom/bamboo-graphics-tablet.html

    thanks a lot :)

Yes, I got this before christmas and its excellent. Hasnt fully replaced the mouse but it works very well. Pressure sensitivity is great, and also has a nifty little function where you can be drawing away in photoshop, and rather than choose eraser, just flip the stylus upside down and use that, like a real pencil.

I'd definitely recommend it though. It has 512 pressure levels.. (full spec is at the bottom of the page you linked to http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/970153/art/wacom/bamboo-graphics-tablet.html#tech-specs)
