Thank you for your reply :)

I really don't know about the rent allowance. This is the link from the Citizens Information website:

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/social-welfare/social-welfare-payments/supplementary-welfare-schemes/rent_supplement/?searchterm=rent%20allowance

I didn't see maternity benefit mentioned, but I only scanned through it very quickly. Go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and find out what you may be entitled to, they will have all the information you need :)

    Good luck for March :)

It is taking ages at the moment.
After a couple of weeks(2/3) you will get a letter confirming that they received your paper work and you will be informed if you are entitled to it in due course.
It is the due course bit that people are panicking about at the moment though.

Yep, due course is quite open ended :pac:

Last time I started my maternity leave, got the payment when I was supposed to and about two weeks later got the letter confirming the amount I would be paid and the start date  I had sent it in in plenty of time too. I don't really mind a delay, it will come at some point which is the main thing. I just wanted an idea of what to expect this time around.

I don't want to ring as I reckon the less people that ring them with stupid questions the more time they will have to get around to the outstanding applications!! Its 18 months or so since I last applied, I would have thought they could have gotten a few extra staff in to sort the backlong by now!!

I sent in my application a couple of weeks ago and about a week after I sent it in I got a phone call asking for a photocopy of my passport as the name on my form didn't match my pps number.

Long story short, I assumed it was moving pretty fast if they had already got to look at my application a week after I sent it!
