The only time I have ever done it, I went on a diving holiday to Tobago. Diving is a very socialable thing to do and you quite often meet other people who have gone sepcifically to dive.

The thing that annoyed me though, is that everyone felt "Sorry" for me and i kept having people ask me to join them for dinner and such, when all i wanted was a bit of time to myself.

So, yeah, my tip would be some sort of activity hoiday, to keep you busy.

Single traveller? Then try these guys - I've used them in the past (Explore are the better of the two in my own opinion). They are pricey and all trips are ex-London though - but great fun.

Anywhere that's backpackery is always a good place to travel alone if you want to meet people, although in my experience Europe isn't so good for this - you don't mention how far afield you want to go.
I've just come back from 3 weeks in South Africa and was virtually never on my own, unless I chose to be. Southeast Asia and South America are also good for this. Stay in hostels, they're generally very social places.

I did the same in The Philippines. It was more the locals who thought I was a crazy Irish girl travelling on her own in the Philippines.

Defo diving holiday. Planning another one soon for the summer.:)
