    Hi,

I am fairly new to posting threads..

I have a 2005 Honda Accord 2.2 i-cdti Sport which is going well apart from one problem. One day the front fog lights turned themselves on when the car was parked up. Couldnt get them turned off so had to remove the fuse. When I put the fuse back in they wont turn on now. The light appears on the dash when you turn them on but no fogs..

Thanks in advance for any help you may have for me on this issue.

Did you check the fog lamp bulbs since you replaced the fuse? You might have blown them both when the fuse was put back in. :(

Could be something wrong with the switch that it didn't turn off. The light was still classed to be on so they when you put back in the fuse it could have blown the bulbs. I
    could be wrong though...

I didnt think that removing the fuse would blow the bulbs..

I was thinking that maybe the relay mite have gone as when you turn the back fogs on there is a tiny click sound but none for the front fogs? The only way to check the bulbs is to remove them which is quite tricky but ill do this over the weekend to be sure.

Just another related question for you..

I find the dipped lights are just far too dim- is it possible to use higher wattage dip bulbs?

It could blow the bulbs when the fogs are switched on but the bulbs are off and the fuse goes back in.

i had a problem with a primera before - no fogs working
after changing bulbs and fuses to no avail i then checked the switch, which is on the stalk for the lights. wires had come loose -
if your fogs are on the stalk then this could be another cause.

Ok over the weekend the fogs came back on by magic!! So the bulbs are fine.. narrows it down slightly. Any suggestions? Sounds like a wiring problem im thinking which will be fairly costly to get Honda to sort it :(

Are they aftermarket fogs? - Do they have their own switch/button or do they just come on when you turn the headlights on?

Now that your front fogs are working again, when you turn them on, do you hear the relay clicking on and off???

The fogs are factory fitted standard that came with the car from new. They are operated from the lighting stoke control stick.

There still is no clicking noise when trying to turn them on/off. I had to remove the fuse again to get them turned off to prevent running the battery flat. Im thinking it must be a bad earth or someting..

It sounds more to me like the contacts within the fog lamp relay are sticking...

I'd second that. You could easily check the relay by listening for the 'tick' when powered on/off. The relay for the fogs is under the bonnet I believe but you'll find it in your handbook.

Re the dim lights, this could be due to dirt build-up between the lens and the case, some of the Accord headlights had a sealing problem (TSB recall). Affected the HID models more with condensation for some reason.

Thanks ill check the relay! As far as I know the relay is not under the bonnet but instead behind the dash but ill need to have a look at the manaul to be sure..

    I thought Hondas were perfect?

Generally they are - but after 8 years small items will start to fail. Normally these failed items are simply and relatively inexpensive compared to other types of failures/makes.
