    I love to watch it,

I choose to live in a world of make overs/Little girls Lost Puppy's then the Doom and Gloom on sky news.

But yes its total and utter horse crap

Ah it's not the worst, I only watch about 10 mins in the morning while I'm having my breakfast so I only really catch the news and a small amount of banality. I suppose a couple of hours of it would drive you mental though.

What's the deal with the blonde girl that fills in for camp Alan doing the weather when he's not there? God woman!! Keep your hands down by your side! We all know what rain looks like, there's no need to act out the motion of falling rain with your hands.

It's a hell of a lot better than RTE's breakfast time offering!!

As a programme that doesn't ask for or receive any support from me and that fills a slot that is totally ignored by the public service broadcaster (a repeated Afternoon Show and Judge Joe Brown at 8 in the morning FFS) it is entitled to some credit no matter how crap any one individual perceives it.

It's great if you're 83 and hard of hearing

Ireland AM does exactly what it's supposed to do, it eases people gently into the morning. It's meant to be very light home-grown entertainment with very few deep and meaningful serious overtones.

Once you know what it's meant to be you can see that it does the job quite well. It also suits a certain broad demographic very well. The average busy, young professional barely has time to have breakfast before leaving in the morning so Ireland AM is not marketed towards them. It's for retired people or those who stay at home during the day.

Mark Cagney, Aidan Cooney.....on the same show. This is some sort of joke, right?

Mark Cagney reminds me of Eamon Keane on Newstalk lunchtime, and not in a good way.

That said, Ireland AM does exactly what it says on the tin. Its a cheaper version of GMTV, mainly because it is cheaper i.e. budget wise. It delivers news, sport and weather with sections inbetween filled with womany stuff.

They seem to have identified their market as a woman, 30 - 40 years of age with a relatively healthy amount of disposable income. They're sticking to their format and fair play to them, they outstripping the Irish competition by miles :P

Used to watch it before I went to school in the morning, it really is (like pretty much everything on TV3) just a broadcst version of a woman's magazine that even most women would read, or even use for toilet paper if they were caught short.

So what else would you want then?

Music?? Look at MTV and Channel 6.
    Comedy?? Look at Channel 4
    Kids?? Look at RTE2, TG4, and BBC2
news? Look at BBC1, Sky News
    Sport? Setanta Sports Ireland

And don't say something like Big Breakfast cause that format was made for the 90's and will never work again, especially on Irish TV. For 3 hours of TV, Ireland AM does very well in my opinion in getting many different topics, and tries to please all the audience.
Just remember back to 1998 when we had nothing but Euronews.

Its just a direct copy of channel 7s sunrise in australia and the morning show with sybil & martin is just a direct copy of channel 7s morning show with kylie & larry. Mark Cagney however is a one off!!
