Have a Garmin and wondering how to find places, rather than addresses...

Industrial Estates, IKEA Belfast, Botanic Gardens< Gelndalough etc

Im not 100% because i dont have it at the minute but if u go to attractions (or whatever the 3rd icon is), and go to spell name it will search for these for you.

As Vendetta, attractions is a good place to look but tbh commercial locations wouldn't be very common in there.
You could also just browse the map but its a long winded way.

By the way 54.62279N 5.86289W will bring you to the entrance of Ikea Belfast :)

The navteq supplied POI's for Ireland are pretty useless in general, I find. Many are completely out of date, such as petrol stations that have been closed for several years. www.mypois.ie has 3rd party downloadable POI's for, amongst others, industrial estates, but you do have to pay for them, also they end up in a separate menu apart from the built-in POI's which makes it a bit awkward.

Hi DannyBuoy, Tnx for the coordinates of Ikea, will need to use em soon.

Any idea how to get coordinates for Places; Ikea, Ind Estates, NAt Botanic gardens etc

you can get them from google maps

edit: well you used to be able to, you would just right click the road you wanted and selected directions from here, then in the from field the coordinates would come up.

I did it the hard way, ie went there and saved the location, kinda defeats the purpose of a sat nav, but anyway.
Another option is to browse the maps on the sat nav, and then save the location, but you'd need some idea of the location obviously..
