I'm having a problem with the sockets in my kitchen. The kitchen is split on seperate walls and one half isn't working. The heating is affected too. Basically, although the sockets are live, there is no power there. A friend tells me that there is a break in a neutrel (sp) somewhere, I've checked each socket and their fine, replaced the heating main switch just in case. The elcb, which runs all the sockets in the house, hasn't tripped and tripping the neutrel switch on the elcb doesn't resolve it. before I call in an expensive sparks is there anything else I can do to narrow down what may be the problem. Any help greatly appreciated,it's damn cold here.

you'll need to determine all the sockets /spurs on the relevant circuit - you can do this swithing off the relevant mcb and then seeing what's not working

Once you determine whats on the circuit you should check each socket/ spur / connection point for loose wires.

If you're happy enough to check the wiring at the fuseboard then check for loose wiring at the neutral bar
