Hi there, searched the forum but could find nothing

a few months back my 10 month old Toshiba Satellite all of a sudden developed this thin yellow vertical line maybe a pixel or 2 thick running down the left side of the screen a couple of centimetres from the left edge

the line is ALWAYS there, right from startup and including over the top of movies etc?

what's the cause of this and is the 12 month warranty likely to cover this? am gonna be talking to the shop I bought it from tomorrow but just wanted to get an idea of what I might be dealing with here...

Could be a few things... could be the ribon cable between the screen and the laptop base, could be the lcd panel itself, could be the video card or video chip on the main board of the laptop

Should be covered by the warranty

Sounds like the screen is at fault, where a power line connecting a column of pixels is failing, resulting in a limited number of colours it can show. I'd bring it back and get it fixed under warranty. I've heard of similar happening and the screen lasting for years with said problem, it is very annoying though.

    thanks for the above

it's not that annoying to be honest but while it's under warranty may as well try and get it sorted,

    thanks again.

    try f8 ,safemode ,vga mode,
You have 2 years gaurantee on laptops, tvs etc under eu law.
Plug it into external monitor, is line gone, indicates theres likely a hardware problem with the screen.
