Seeing as many of you guys have built recording studios...how much would a door, double glazed for soundproofing cost?

We do ones for RTE at about £1500 a pop, so it depends what you need? My friend, whose a studio owner also owns a Door/Window factory. I'll PM you his details if you want?

I'm just browsing around at the moment, do you know if he has a website?

No , he's just a customer of mine. It's a 'normal' window door company it's just he'd be in tune with what you need being a studio owner himself. I'll pm you his number and give him a bell.

Second hand fire doors from mac's salvage in kilmainham. About €35 euro a pop and about another €35 for door frames to fit them into. A good snug fit and they are a reasonable alternative and offer a fair bit of isolation if fitteted well.

If they fit tight you'll get about 30db reduction I reckon. Not serious industrial standard etc. They are a good starting point for diy'ing a heavy door too...
finding rubber or magnetic seals is a different matter

    He's the rat
    The studio rat
    He can mix your tunes
    If you give him cheese
    Say please
    Or he'll nibble your knees
    He plays bass
    Produced U2
    He's the rat
    The king of the pack
    When he enters a room
    Better step back
    Does he like chit chat?
    'Said no'
He's the king of the hill
    He got too much skill
    No spill
    No slop
    He's the rat
    He sits on top
    Can't handle a flop
