Request to borrow a lens

If I randomly end up in a corporate box at Croke park for some rugby match on Saturday, would anyone be able to loan me a 7 million mile lens for my D40? Or would there be any point at all if I'm in a box?

I'd put the lens on my household insurance, and treat it like a puppy for the duration, except without the licking.

Pity mine are Canon and I'm sitting at the end lines. :p

That's OK, I've never been arsed watching a full rugby match before, so thought the camera might entertain me a bit :P

Seriously though, I see all the sports action shots here, and sometimes think "I'd love to do that". I suspect that some kind of interest in the game (and some clue as to whether 15 burly men are about to land on top of you) might be required. Would that be a fair comment?

Oh, one question, if you're renting them do they take care of the insurance?

It's a fair comment. To know the game you're covering is an advantage as to when to expect certain things to happen. Worst case scenario is sitting in the wind and rain like last Saturday at the Canada match which was like a monsoon.

Unfortunately, I won't be at the game Saturday, I'll be in Amsterdam drinking.

You can get some good and interesting images from the boxes.

Sometimes something as simple as a wide angle lens can give great effects.

Having an interest in the sport you're photographing certainly helps a lot, since you can anticipate action, and you'd have a better idea of what to look out for.

    Enjoy the game anyway.

LOL. Yeah, the weather was a bit harsh last weekend. Can't post images here (licensing rules), but do have some on my website, and they show just how bad the rain was.

Hopefully the weather won't nearly be as bad as that again.

Exactly why mine haven't appeared although I kept them in a private folder just in case.

Daddy, why was that man bouncing up and down on that other man? And why did he put his hand there?

Some lousy weather, but some lovely shots!

Yeah, having seen those, I think I'll stick to just shooting the spectators. Otherwise I'll just end up with pictures of men's nethers, and not a ball in sight ;)

How else are you supposed to keep them clean?

Of course, in Soviet Russia, the puppies lick you.

Lens renting plan is under way - dependant on the "getting the invite" plan.

No. You'd have to get your own insurance

    Hi Thoie

You can have a loan of my 70-300VR. You've tried it out before. I just hope that you've enough light with the 4.5-5.6.
