Nice BA, cheers. Yep, €206, delivered.
    I ordered it after reading a few reviews like this one;

    http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/canon-ixus-860-is.cfm

Also, I picked up a charger and 2x1400mAh NB-5L batteries on eBay for €13

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=150308077486

At last, a decent point and shoot camera. What recession.. lol :)

Well its through a third party seller that allowed me to get all the way up to the purchase stage without complaints.

How would that compare to something like a Sony Cyber-Shot?

    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/888175/art/sony/cyber-shot-dsc-w120-silve.html#tech-specs

I have never had a digital camera before and I am in the market for one.

But all I know to look out for is megapixels.:o

    Any advice appreciated.

Both are good cameras but Canon is my choice and I practice what I preach as I have owned 2 Ixus cameras in the last few years.

Here is a side by side comparison.

    http://www.elara.ie/products/Compare.asp?comp1=S5365195&comp2=S5221926&comp3=&comp4=&ecomp1=ECE1535510&ecomp2=ELA1483702&ecomp3=&ecomp4=&using=specifications

Here is a nice review from Trusted reviews, Sony one is not there, sorry.

Megapixels don't mean that much really, to a certain extent it does but I can tell you my SLR camera that I have will beat any higher MP point and shoot. Might be a bit of an odd comparison but it is valid. The image sensor and lens are both very important and MP is only part of what the sensor does.

Then you need to google "mexapixel myth". I'm not a camera person either, so I'm not the one to give a detailed answer of the differences between the two, but from what I know the quality of the lens is much more important than the megapixel figure. Also, look out for good optical zoom, and ignore digital zoom.

Ok I just did that and it said "Did you mean: megapixel myth "

    Even more confused now:D

Mine arrived yesterday, got it for €185 aswell. Saw it in the airport for €380 and that made my mind up.
I've to wait until xmas to open it though so can't give any feedback on it.
