Colour Picture - Black and White Subject

    Our wedding photographer edited some of our photos so that the whole photo might be in black and white except maybe me and my wife or maybe just her flowers would be in colour.

    What program would he have used to do this? Free version?
    When used correctly, its a lovely feature I think.

    It was probably done with Photoshop, as that is what the majority of the industry uses.

    It can be done with GIMP too which is a free program.

    Picasa (free from Google ) does that, amongst many other things (they call it Focal B&W). EDIT: I should add that it's limited to a circular focal point.

    Its nice, but overly done

    Basically, you take a shot in colour, then select the part you want to keep colour, then invert the selection

    then turn the rest black and white
