Hi all, after being contacted by Sky a few weeks ago, and accepting an offer to go for sky plus, last monday evening (the 10th) i had a sky+ plus box fitted by a sky installer, he ran the new cable to the box as required and then he removed the viewing card from the standard sky box and inserted it into the sky+ box.
However (2 days later) i still have none of the sky+ functionality like live pause or recording tv as of yet, Have i to wait a period of time for the sky+ box to update or do i have to contact Sky, (something i would rather not do).

    many thanks for any advice,

There is no waiting period AFAIK. It should be working properly immediately. Looks like you will have to contact Sky :(.

Thanks for the reply Head, my sister got sky+ installed a few months back, but that was a new install (never had sky before), in her case it took a day for the sub she signed up for to fully come on, and another 2 days for the sky+ feature to function properly, but i assumed that was because of it being a totally new install, unlike our situation where we were already sky subscribers and just upgraded the box, maybe if i wait another day or so and see what happens and then ring the dreaded sky.

fyi - had Sky+ installed last week as an upgrade similar to you (i.e. new cable, card swapped from one box to the other, etc..) and the Sky+ functionality worked straight away. Tested pausing live tv, recording, etc.. as soon as the installer left and it worked fine.

I got sky plus few weeks ago and my old card was no good for sky plus so i needed a new card sent from uk and then after a week or so that arrived took another 2 days for the card to activate all the plus functions  but its all sorted now and sky plus is a life saver so all is forgiven :D

AFAIK, you need a different card for standard sky and sky+.

    Although, I could be wrong.

I also got it changed over from normal sky to plus some time ago, they didnt change the card and it worked immediately for me.

sounds like the engineer didn't check it before he left

hi patrickc, i just rang the guy who installed the sky+ box for me, he says i need to ring sky and give them the existing viewing card number and they will activate the box functions.

That's a bad buzz. You shouldn't have to do that if Sky did their job properly IMO. At the least the engineer should have tested the functions before he left the house, or am I expecting too much?

It can take upto 4 hrs for the Sky plus features to activate, sometimes upto 24 hrs after the engineer rings the upgrade through, it is down the people you get through to, Sky Ireland took over calls since Monday has been like talking to a bunch of chimps as no1 seems to have a clue what I was talkin about today when trying to upgrade some accounts..

Hi, I just had my sky+ box replaced (problem with the old one). The installer asked if I watched Sky in other rooms & I told him yes. I asked would I need to re-tune anything & he said no. Now it turns out that I can't get sky in my other rooms. Not sure if he changed the frequency or what. I want it tuned back in as I mainly watch tv in another room. Has anybody any ideas how I get it back? I tried searching for channels on my other tv but no joy. ANYBODY??
