Do larpers wear chain mail ?

Hey...I bought a mail shirt for sword/spear fighting with, and it turns out that it's way too small for me. It's 46" across the chest, and turns out that it won't fit under padded armour.

I thought it might fit a thin LARPer who wanted the coolest looking light mail you can buy (flat black metal rings, hand riveted together, 7kg). Do they wear that sort of stuff, or is all pretend plastic armour ?

I've been rubber sword larp'ing once or twice in dublin and yes they most certainly do.

You could put it up for sale on the boards buy and sell pages if you like you might get some interest there.

A larper friend of mine commissioned his own plate armour and sword for his games. You'll have interested parties, don't worry.

Some will thing is some won't wear riveted mail as it is cosidered not as safe as linked mail, it depends on what type larp they are into and what the rules are.

    It's up now on; http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=79639

"Not as safe as linked mail" ? How does that work ? Is that because they've seen people use crappy mail that has rough ends sticking out everywhere, tearing lumps out of skin & clothing ? This stuff is polished.

Need to sell this to get cash to pay for my nice new sword...

I believe the idea is that from a health and safety point of view you land on the rivets
or take a hard blow that the revit are more likely to cause an injury.

Oh. How bizarre. Anyway, this shirt has rivets protruding only on one side (the other is flat), so you could turn it away. Though, if you dive-bombed someone and skidded your belly over their face, you could still do damage.

Why someone would do that is left as an exercise for the reader :)
