I reckon leave it stand on its own two feet without a title.

    Without a doubt - out. :)

Despite what the photographer wants the viewer will always have their own idea of a picture. To you its Autumn Leave but to someone else it might be something completely different. Forcing your own view of it onto other people can really take away from a shot.

Leave the writing in & lose the branch as it distracts from the sky.

Then the Title will really get them thinking! ;)

    Love the shot.

I have a problem with framing, I can never decide. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. I have designed a gorgeous frame but still in two minds, so what I do most of the time is a vignette with a border of maybe 10 points. Depending on the shot it is white or black. I watermark for net only. This way the picture looks just as good in print as on web.

With your frames being very similar to mine I would be inclined to go for the one with the text in the black and to the right.

prefer it without anything, but if putting it in then off the image (on the border) but way, way, way, smaller than the sample you've shown.

If I was printing it to a large scale & hanging it up on the wall, I'd go with no. 3, but.....with a smaller font.
    Nice pic BTW.

In my experience, you're better off printing it without any frame, or writing, then getting it mounted and framed.
Text that looks sharp on screen, wont always look sharp in print.

    Frames are always rubbish IMO.

Thanks for the constructive criticism! (Insert sarcastic thumbs up here)

Everyone else, thanks for the comments. They have been taken on board. I guess i agree with most of them with regards to the writing taking away from the picture, and if i did leave the writing, to put it in the frame in smaller font size.

I dont have much experience with printing enlargements or photos so im not sure whats the best way of doing it, with or without borders, i guess il have to look into it.

    Thanks
    Kieran

My reply is same as City Exile's cept I used less words, global warming and all that.

    Maybe I try it again...

Frames detract from a good picture.

    happier?

Its actually a great question - lets assume it isn't for online viewing (i don't think many would include a border) but that you want to put your print in one of those clip frames (eh... not my personal cup of tea), or mount in a frame with no mount/inset. Should you add a border in this case?

I've printed with plain black border on matte and it looks quite good but i've not framed at all - it was more for just trying out the print of a border.

Has anyone done this and what have they turned out like or is it a case of go for a proper cut mount?

And is it the case of just buying some white and black card (mounting card?) and some corner mount things and then a frame to put these all in or what?

I'd leave out the text and border and give it a more golden/red autumnal treatment for the craic. I like the picture though, there's definitely potential there

Got to agree - no writing! I gave a print to my sis last christmas that I'd had mounted and framed, and I titled it in handwriting in pencil on the mount before the frame was popped on. If you *really* wanted to title it that might be an idea?
