MAGIC EYE ISSUE

Sorry to bother people with yet another Magic Eye thread. I have two magic eyes working fine- or I should say , I had two magic eyes working fine!

I had to adjust a cable behind the tv last night and by accident I took the cable from the amplifier which was the magic eye feed. Plugged it back in then and it didn't work. I then remembered about the rf2 outlet so switched the power supply off and rebooted the box etc...Somehow I got it working again but after pushing the tv back in place it now doesn't work. I've rebooted several times and put the rf2 power on and off etc but no joy.The cables are all in place. I assume the next step will be to check them directly on the box and if they don't work then , they have probably blown?

However, just in case they still do work,is there some sequence of connection I should be doing to ensure they will work.

    Any advice appreciated folks.
    thanks

Sounds like it might be a bad connection somewhere.

Actually I have tested the eyes directly into the RF2 socket on the digibox with the supply "on" and the red light doesn't light up on the eye or work. However,if I put the "eyes" back in place on the other tv's the red light works but obviously the eye doesn't. A dist.amp feeds the other two tv's so they are probably getting the power from them I assume? It seems to me the RF2 OUTPUT on the digibox may be broken even though otherwise the box works perfect.Anyone concurr?

I had a similar problem with my HD box recently. The remote magic eye was not receiving any power from the RF2 socket, even though the configuration screen said it was "on". I set it to "off" in the config screen and shut the box down. Then I turned off the mains power for about 30 seconds and restored power, booted the box and went back into the config screen and turned on the RF2 power - voila!

I have rebooted a couple of times- no success. Anyhow,I'll try that leaving for at least 30 seconds.thanks

Hi folks, just an update on this. I got a new dist.amp with the old style connectors and have now got the eyes up and running.

Just a note on what got me interfering with my set up. Suddenly RTE2 AND TV3 went snowy on the terrestrial aerial on the main tv, RTE1 TG4 Perfect. And all four channels perfect on my other two TV's. even now after sorting everything out and checking all cables its still the same but I am not really bothered as I am always watching them through Sky. However, if I watch through the dvd recorder on the main tv , all four of them are perfect. I am mystified. Its not a big deal as I say, but if anyone has had similar experience or has an idea what it could be I'd appreciate it.
    cheers

Maybe not relevant in your case but i have had instances where the coax connector that has to be fitted on rf2 outlet to accept the coax plug fom the second lead does not make a proper connection between the connector and the lead and results in no power being supplied to the magic eye. a slight squeze on the central pin of the connector with a pair of pointy nose pliers has always cured this problem.

Most people don't bother to solder the TV plug on the cable. This causes endless problems in my experience.
