I am going to Carrick-On-Shannon and then on to Sligo for a long weekend. Any recommendations for locations. So far I have ideas on visits to:

    Carrowroe passage tombs
    Hazelwood sligo
    Lough Key Forest Park,roscommon
    Glencar,leitrim

Anyone care to suggest locations. Indoor locations would be good to given the weather

    Thanks Emul

    Hi emul,

Those are all pretty good starting points (I presume you mean Carrowmore megalithic tombs). I find that a lot of photo ops up here are very weather dependent, not necessarily that you need good weather per se, but that the light can change in 30 seconds from dull and flat to glorious and luminous.

The light for the last few days at sunrise has been just stunning and worth getting up for (you can always go back to bed!:)).

If the weather is suitable, I'd suggest a walk up Knocknarea, just outside Strandhill. It's a stiffish 30 min walk from the car park but well worth it for the big vistas. The beaches at Strandhill and Rosses Point can give great shots with big cloudy skies and of course Benbulben is always a good subject.

PM me if you need any more info/directions whatever.
