    Hi

I was wondering could we get a sticky going where forum members could recommend additions to other's running book collections. I have seen books mentioned throughout threads but it would be nice to have a one-stop shop which could be reference when browsing Amazon or Ebay.

    Howdy,

    Ultra-marathon man, Dean Karnazes,

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultramarathon-Man-Dean-Karnazes/dp/1585424803/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226483440&sr=1-1

Inspiration read, even tempted me to go longer than marathon distance (forgot that idea pretty quickly!).

    Running with the Buffaloes,

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Running-Buffaloes-University-Colorado-Cross-country/dp/1585748048/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1226483623&sr=1-2

A season with the UC XC team. Sounds boring but this is a great read, couldn't put it down.

    Ray.

Over the years I've collected a few books which I won't read again, there just taking up space, I think I have Coe's, Ovett's, Crams autobiographys and a few others. At the next Boards race I'll bring them along and you can swap them around.

I like the idea of a "swap shop" actually. While there are a couple of books I wouldn't part with (P&D, the Lore) I have others like the HH book that I'd be happy to donate to a pool that we circulate around amongst each other.

Be easy enough to set up - to get involved just list books you are happy to trade off and we can post them to each other. In theoty the cost I pay to post a book to you is compensated by the price of postage someone else pays to post a book to me.

I'm not a big fan of stickies as a general rule unless they are being used a lot. If this thread gets a lot of interest though I'll stickie it and we can get it rolling.

So to start - if anyone is interested I have the following available:

Hal Higdon - "Marathon - Ultimate training guide"
Bob Glover - "Competitive Runners Handbook"

Anyone else got any they want to add or interested in these / swap shop in general.

    Running with the Buffaloes,

Yeah running with the buffaloes is a great read really enjoyed it.

I'd have to disagree with you slightly on the Dean Karnazes book though. I found it a bit soppy. Disney will probably make a film out of it. But sure different strokes for different folks.

Two of my favourites are the "duel in the sun" and also Dick Bardsley's autobiography. I'll find links later

One of the best running books I've read is:
Feet in the Clouds: A Story of Fell Running and Obsession by Richard Askwith

I've gotten a loan of Advanced Marathoning by Pfitzinger and I'm working my way through it but the schedules are a bit on the complex side for my liking.

Picked up a copy of the Lore of Running this evening. I've heard its the bible of running and it was worth a shot at 24 quid (a bargain really) for 800 pages + of running experience.

I've heard of a book called 'Once a Runner' but not sure of the author or even if I have the title right?
