    Hi all,

My Sky has been on the blink for a few days now - phoned them and went through the usual - no joy. I was advised I need a engineer to look at the dish, and this would cost €100. Fair enough but sceptical at the same time! I had been thinking about Sky+ for a while so was wondering (in the interest of saving a few quid) if I went ahead and ordered Sky+ might the guy who would come round to install it look at the dish aswell or tell me where to go? I feel I am being screwed paying €100 for an engineer and €149 for the Sky+. Any tips? Thanks

If you order sky+ the guy will look at the the dish. He will even install a new one if needs be at no extra cost.

seems it would be cheaper for you to upgrade to Sky+ or Sky HD

simple trick to get em to fix it. ring up say you wanna cancel cos your sytem is broke. they will have someone out as soon as the word cancel is out of your mouth. be persistent though with em. It works most of the time and they wont charge you.

Thanks channelsurfer that just worked for us- engineer is coming out free of charge in 2 days. It would have cost E100 otherwise.

Sky directly charge €100 for a service charge, most independant installers like myself charge from as low as €40 and usually wont do anything unless a price is agreed.

Threatening sky u will cancel wont always get u a free service call and could actually get ur account cancelled....not a good idea...after all you sign a contract and the equipment is your own...once a yr has passed even if u cancel your account and decide to use the equipment for FTA which a lot of people do..
