Focus air con

    Hi, I have just got a 2007 Ford Focus 1.4 lx Connection with keyless system and bluetooth and was advertised as having air con. It was only after the deal was done that I realised my mistake. It doesn't have air con. is it possible to have air con installed by a Ford dealer??

    Anything's possible, but it would be prohibitively expensive.

    If the advertisement was misleading you may be able to bring it back for a refund.

    Air con is expensive to retro fit, I'd doubt very much the dealer would do it for free.

    we have that connection pack, in an '07 1.6 Zetec, but the Connection pack (as far as I was aware) had duel-electronic climate control, i.e. not even air con.
    That said, if its not there, its not there, so the Lx spec must have been different.
    does it have bluetooth, and 17" 5-spoke alloys?

    Connection Pack was offered as a extra on both the LX and Zetec models.

    LX didn't have air con but the Connection Pack for the LX didn't either.
    Zetec had manual air con but the Connection Pack upgraded this to digital climate control.

    Saying "not even air con" makes it sound not as good, whereas "dual-electronic climate control" is actually better than standard air con. You probably meant that, but I'm just clarifying.

    OP, if you still have the ad (and you bought from a dealer), you'd be within your rights to get a refund (goods must be "as described" under the Sale of Goods Act). Or you might be able to negotiate a discount if you're happy to keep the car.

    I'm not sure of the situation if you bought privately.

    Thanks to all repliers. Yes I do have a printout of the ad. It has 16" alloys btw. This is the 3rd car I've bought from this dealer and when he called today to see how I was getting on I told him and he asked me to call him after work for a chat. Said that the ad went on to carzone and details were "automatic" ie not put in manually by him. I'll see what he has to offer, but as we travel to france for a few weeks every year I wll need aircon. I also use it a lot in winter to dry out humidity.

    there is a place in rathmines that does install Air Con but it will cost you €2,500. Also it means there will be extra knobs placed on your dash that could look fairly bad...it will put your car under a bit more strain battery and petrol-wise.

    This could be interesting ok. Retrofitting is not an option economically. Presumably it was your responsibilty to check the car before driving away in it however.

    When did you take delivery?

    Perhaps it's possible to unravel the sale and for you to buy another car this time with a/c?

    Maybe it was advertised with a Quad unit natural aircon system (aka windows :pac:)

    Well it was partly my fault for not checking. I just spoke to the dealer and he's being helpful. Going to talk to an AC specialist guy he uses, and is offering to try to find me a car with AC at the same price. The Focus Zetec whihc has AC of the same year would cost me about 2 grand extra. The more I think about it the more I think I might learn to live without. I like the one about the windows btw :)
