    Is it slipping?

Put it into gear with the handbrake on and let out the clutch. Does the engine stall?

no im 90% definite its not slipping. i always have the radio on so mightent take much notice. the only thing is there is this boost of power at around 2000revs but i always put this down to turbo kicking in. its a peugeot 307 diesel by the way

also it could cut out if i dont give it some revs starting off in a hill.

just before my clutch went there was a squealing noise coming from the car for a few weeks (i was just hoping it wasnt serious) and it got more difficult to select gears until it just got stuck in neutral and went to a main dealer 668euro,hope its not your clutch

If it's not slipping then I wouldn't get too worried about it. Whats the mileage by the way? City vs motorway driving will have a big bearing on the life of the clutch too.

well basically im just wondering is it about to go because it comes out so far before it takes off.

it has 98000. driving would be mostly country roads.

    anymore advice

Unless you ride the clutch or pull a trailer, the cluch should still be ok at that mileage on country roads.

If it's not slipping you'll just have to keep going until it does. No one will be able to tell you whether or not it's about to go. Surely you won't change the clutch in case?

On another note though, a clutch can give way over the course of a day if i worn. Once it starts to slip, it'll progress rapidly! And of course, you could burn out a new clutch in a few days by riding the clutch.

As a matter of interest, would this be indicative of a clutch on its way out?

Because I remember watching wheeler dealers and they had to change the clutch on an E30 325i because the clutch was biting almost at the floor:confused:? So I've always assumed that if it only bites when it's nearly out that that isn't a bad thing. But then again if it bites too late then it means it's more likely to be slipping because it doesn't release fully.

How many miles should a clutch typically last?

Didn't they change the slave cylinder to cure that?

Possibly, been a while since I've watched it though.
