I hope this is in, roughly, the right forum. Please move if its not.

How do I open an Open Office document in Excel? And can I open them in batches?

It needs to be saved as an xls file (Microsoft Excel 2003 I think is what they call it in the Save As dialog) when you're in Open Office.

Cheers, Im aware of that but I have dozens of them here and Id rather the person at the other end just click on a filter in Excel as re-saving them all will take me ages :)

    Is there such a filter?

There is but I do not have the link to hand unfortunately. I'll have a look, but I remember getting rid of it because it was crap.

Does Open Office have a scripting facility that would allow it to open all the spreadsheets it finds in a given folder and save them as Excel 2003 type files in another folder? I have not used Open Office so maybe someone else can say if it does, and give you the few lines of code that will do the job.
