Ipod nano volume help!

I have an ipod nano third gen(the fat one) anyway I was messing around with it an put a password(its a four digit code) on the volume thing and I cant remember it!Is there any way to get past this because even when I have the voulme maxed it isnt high enough. Any help will be great thanks!
