I'm using a quad core 2.40 with 8800 GTX (768mb) with 4gigs ram (i know i need to upgrade to 64bit windows) and am getting around 35-50 framerate with everything high.

Seems strange for such an old game. Any suggests to improve it or will i just lower things down?

I'm setting shadow as low...and it's constant 60fps...or drop to around 30 if shadow is high...

    my fps is generally 60+

I lost the fps checking thing when i changed from original WoW interface.

But my game runs perfectly smooth on high settings.

You must remember WoW is not setup yet ( afaik) for dual or quad core processors, so you get no benefit, and generally it slows it slightly.

I use an AMD 3700 which is the best single core cpu on the market.
I run 2 gigs of high quality ram
And i also run a single 8800 ( cant remember if its gts or x, the better one) at 320mb.

My system doesnt " look" much compared to the ones above or even todays systems, but everything i have is the top of the pops.

Like I said dual core and multicore does not benefit WoW in any way.
4 GBs of ram afaik is also non effective.
And from all the research I did, SLI again has no impact on WoW cause the game has not been sli enabled ( sli on a single screen splits the screen load one card takes each half, but on the game developer side they must implement some stuff too see the boost)

Maybe someone else might be able to shed some light into this. But wow does not need a beefy machine.

I have never come across any bit of stutter and ive done and seen everything possible in the game.

I still cannot see any confirmation wether or not WOTLK has been Dual core supported , defiantly not quad core. But hopefully they will include some support in coming patches, cause thats all thats required...a patch.

I have a e2140 which cost me 20€ of adverts.ie overclocked to 3.6ghz. 4gb Geil black dragon ram, and a single 8800gts 512mb. constant 60 fps with everything on high with 4xaa and 4xaf 1680*150 res. Oh and runnign vista 64bit. I found disabling addons like titan really raise the fps.

I have no add-ons. Fresh install. hmmm this is strange.

my resolution is 1440 x 900. Nvidia panel set so the application chooses 3d options

are you running in window mode? that lowers my fps when i use it

No. I better give more details as i have been very vague tbh. so i took screenshots of setup

Sorry to be anal but the 3700 isn't the fastest single core CPU and the 320mb 8800 is the GTS. :D

I wouldn't worry about it too much provided all other games are functioning correctly - it could be, and probably is, just drivers. At least, in a game like WoW, a high FPS isn't really necessary - the amount of people I've seen getting by on not only Intel's old GMA900, but the ancient Intel Extreme family... The fact you're using a low-ish resolution isn't a bad sign either, at those sort of resolutions there's not much to separate the GTX from some of the lower variants....I doubt WOW consumes crazy amounts of vram.

What are you using to measure your FPS, and in what sort of in-game situation?

Also....I see now you have v-sync on, which could be capping your FPS in most areas. Trying turning it off and see how it goes.

I'm using the in-game one (CTRL R). I've been testing it in stormwind and in outdoor areas in outland. Just seems unstable compared to Crysis were i have everything on max and only experience framerate drop on the final alien fight on the carrier (everything was exploding and the aliens had built up a sizeable force).

I'll turn V-sync off and see what happens. Should i be messing around with nivida control panel and taking control from wow over the 3d aspects?

No need to be apologetic, ive been out of touch with hardware for some time, i was under the impression it was, and yes after i check it is a gts.

I still get good fps with wow though which is all i need :)

Have a dual core 2.40GHz with an 8800 GTS 512Mb. Running windowed at 1400*150 on my main screen (dual screen off one video card), max multisampling, most effects set medium to high, all shaders on, in Linux under Wine. Average 30-40 in cities and in busy spots - 60-70 outside of those areas.

there's been alot of people having fps issues at the moment (check tech support forums)

    me included:

    basically my system is vaguely
    Intel Quad Core 9450
    Radeon 3870X2
    4gb DDR3 Ram
    etc.

so pretty high end and every day up until 3.0 every single time I had a solid 60fps which never ever dropped and now I get 20-30 changing settings up or down has essentially no effect.

still getting perfect frame rates in Far Cry 2 and Red alert 3 etc. but wow is failing - not sure why exactly but like I said alot of people with this issue.

What laptop is it? I've seen laptops 5/6 years old getting that kind of performance, don't know how people play like that!

I'm also having terrible FPS issues since the last patch. Was fine in the beta so really, they've done or changed something that's bombing out my FPS recently :(

Using an ATI 3850, yeah I know not the greatest but has been perfectly fine since the last patch.

Am not 100% sure but I remember someone from my guild was advising people to clear off the cache folder somewhere in the wow directory. Apparently that sorted everything out.

hurrah for the laptop users we're the REAL hardcore cause we take wow with us where ever we go >.>

But 4-8fps? /cuddle that's a bit low mustn't be very nice. My laptop runs happily at a steady 40fps bar when i have the camera at a ridiculously -too close to the massive aoe spell detail- angle in raids and the fps drops to about 9... but that's about it.

Are you guys sure it's literally running at 4-8FPS, just looking at the Extensa spec's it has the X3100, which can definitely run WOW at a pretty decent framerate....

Couldn't find the spec's on the HP, what video card does it have?

Try this, I had a similar issue where it wasn't low fps, but it would 'shudder', meaning it felt like I was walking through tar. Clearing the cache sorted it.

Strange, that video card can handle WOW effortlessly usually, it should only be running so slowly if you've got the settings turned up far too high - I've seen people running the game on that card at 1680x1050 low settings at a decent FPS (30+), which would suggest 1280x800 low-medium would be similarly fine - obviously if you're trying to run the game maxed out, that would explain a lot. I've never played WoW though - the X200m has nototriously abysmal OpenGL performance in certain models but I'm not sure if WoW is OpenGL or Direct3D.
