Who Has Stopped Watching?

I'm presuming I'm not the only way who thinks that Season 3 is incredibly weak so far. Some interesting points, but on the whole it's just not the same. I'm going to disucss Season 1+2+3 openly, so its your choice as to whether you want to read on or not

It's interesting that Dexter has a new best friend that is fueling him with the bad guys, but if this doesn't go anywhere then I can see it getting boring fast. Same thing with Rita's story. If it doesn't pick up, then, well, it's pretty much boring already. And Deb's story. Seriously. How many times does this chick need to fall in love with somebody? First the Ice Truck Killer, then Lundi, now this guy. Come on, give her some new material to work with!

If the next few episodes keep like this, I think I might just stop watching Season 3 completely and move back to Season 1. Even watch some bits of Season 2.

Oh Dexter. How the mighty have fallen.

Don't agree at all really. I think seasons 1 and 2 were slow to start off as well, even despite the uncovering of Dexter's victims at the end of season 2 episode 1. His relationship with miguel is really interesting, considering miguel is more of a loose cannon than I originally thought.

As evident from the first 2 seasons, the format of Dexter is similar to the Wire, but to a lesser extent. i.e. each is season is like a novel, each episode a chapter. The season has to be viewed as a whole, and there are a good few episode left this season. when you think about it,things only really started to heat up in the last few episodes of seasons 1 and 2.

I suppose different strokes for different folks, I'm enjoying this season more then Season 2, basically because I hated that English Beatch, I like the idea of Dexter finding more to life then following the code, having a friend (although I see that ending badly) getting married being a father, all works on the charecter development for me and keeps me coming back for more :)

Yeah I'm still liking this season but it doesn't have me as engrossed as the previous 2. Without Doakes the tention is almost nil now. Also, what made the other 2 was Dexter stalking his targets and then the investigations by the police. Dexter isn't killing near enough and they aren't spending near enough time per episode on the skinner. I'm surprised also that Dexter isn't more involved in tracking down the skinner.

Also, who gives a rats ass about Batistas love life, or Masukas confidence issues, why the hell are they wasting time in the episodes with that?

I'm loving this season. Fair enough, it may not be as action-packed or as exciting as the previous seasons, but it's still far better than any other shows on at the moment.

This season is a huge step down from previous seasons. There's little to no tension probably because there is no protagonist up against Dexter. In S1 there was Doakes; in S2 there was Doakes, Lundy and to some extent Lila and in S3 there is no one.
    Result: boredom!.

Comparing Dexter to the Wire is a fallacy. At least in the Wire's slow build up there were things to enjoy and saviour and rewatch later with a new appreciation.
Dexter's slow build up is just tedium.

I said in terms of the format, not the content. The Wire is the best tv show ever made,I have yet to see anything come close to being as good. The sopranos being the closest.

Got bored watching half way through. I'm going to try and finish the season now though, since I'm just hanging around during Christmas.
