Please bring back the old one it was much better. What the hell is the new search engine about???

An interesting note also to add... I didn't realise that carzone have now stopped dealers from the north advertising. Got a mail from a dealer across the border in the past few days who was very irrate that he was not allowed advertise on carzone anymore. Woudn't think that this was the best move Carzone ever made considering the car market at the moment.

Yes the new site is rubbish, I can see a massive gap in the market for a better one.

I'd say the Northies were dropped by as a result of some SIMI "representation" to AutoTrader.

Just checked it out. I think it looks class and is very easy to use. Don't see the issue with it.

I have used the old one and I think this one will be easier for people new to the site.

As posted by someone in the classic cars forum before, this website here still uses the old search engine:

That's just it, if they want to cater for such slow people they should setup a seperate site where such people can train their skills, maybe they could call it carzonenewbie.ie and leave the old version for people actually looking for cars they want to buy. I would say I could find a particular model of car at a particular price range and engine size within 10 seconds on the old site, the new one would take close to a minute to bring anything close, rubbish site.

It seems to be that carzone was purchased by AutoTrader to simply sink it.

'sfunny, I was looking on another site today, and thought it atrocious. Then, in the small print on the bottom, it said 'powered by carzone'.

Oh dear, so that's what's wrong with it then !:D

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Didn't like it at first, but i have got use to it. Having said that i can't see my Dad at 70 years of age adapting to the new site. I think the main thing is not to "update results" until all criteria are selected.

It appears the site has gone tits up.

From 60k plus cars for sale yesterday, there's less than 30k cars for sale today and a lot of photos are not working.

the new site is a total disaster i dont have the patients to use it any more they need to sort this out quick smart.

and as they have put the price up to advertise your car people are just gonna go elsewhere as it takes to long to search for one particular car the old site was 10 times better.

Go back to the old version and problem solved.

Gone from checking carzone many times a day to not visting at all.

The site is a piece of **** at the min.

Yep - I'm starting to get used to it. But I think the previous version was a lot more straight forward.

It was a bold move, they should have an option on their main page to 'switch back to the old style site'. I wonder how many of the design ideas were carzones and how many where the web designer's.

The basic search option is still available for use and is still on the front page...

    see here:

So the basic option is still there guys, it does however still show the new results listing and the new listing format.....

If it's not broke, why fix it eh??

My guess is because it looks cooler. I never really liked the old search TBH. It got you there in the end but it wasn't nice to look at and the only real advantage of it over this one is you could navigate it using the keyboard.

But is the point of a search engine - which is what it is after all - not to get you to the results as quickly and easily as possible, not just look pretty and especially not at the expense of functionality.

+1 for bringing back the old layout. I don't bother visiting the site now either..

Yeh but it's the advanced search that everyone is missing

Nobody has really mentioned the advanced search just yet. . . at least thats the impression I got....

I agree though that the new search has become needlessly complicated (in comparison to the previous version). Its still easy to use however and the basic search is still a quick and simple option.

i hate it, i find that it's very unpleasant to use and the brice bands annoy the hell out of me. it's all 2999 to 7999 etc. like there could be an ideal car there but because it has a price of 8000 instead of 7999 you wont see it
