Jack O'Connor has been confirmed as the new manager of the Kerry senior football time, taking charge of the Kingdom for the second time.

O'Connor was handed the reins again by the Kerry County Board, following a meeting and takes over from Pat O'Shea.

O'Connor who cited the need to take a break, when he stepped down after winning the All-Ireland in 2006 seems to have regained an appetite for the Kerry job and it is believed that he was the Kerry executive's first choice.

However there was no official confirmation of the management team as this will be revealed at a special county committee meeting on Wednesday 3 December.

This is thought to be because of O'Connor's heavy workload in preparing Kerins O'Rahilly's for last Sunday's Munster Club clash with Nemo Rangers and this Sunday's county final that it just was not possible to hold discussions on the matter.

Personally i'm glad to see him back. Sam will be back in the Kingdom again in 2009 :D

Well I for one am just thrilled at his return and being given a 2year contract ... and with Pat Flanagan back with him also ... I'm chuffed :D

I just don't think as many will resign this year now (just a hunch) and will be more than prepared to give it 'one more lash' with Jack. Unity in the Kerry panel is what was ordered and now with Jacks' return-Kerry will have exactly that.
I am delighted Jack is back

as far as I know Flanagan won't be back with him. O'Connor wanted him back, but he has family commitments. Alan O'Sullivan, Kerins O'Rahillys' trainer will most probably get the role. From what I know he is good, but more suited to Rugby as that is where he came from. A lot of his training involves punch bags and physical stuff, rather than running, but I'm sure Jack can get him to tailor it to suit inter county football.

Interesting times ahead. Will Dara stay on? How will Tomas react to the news?

why would there be a problem with Thomas?

Take with as much salt as you want but I hear he was very upset with the book and does not have any time for Jack. He was also left out of the GPA awards (Jack was chairman of selection committee) but Daragh got one. Sweetener??

Course the appointment of Fitzmaurice could go a long way to helping with any rift.

Anyway I hope its put aside and we get on with playing football and regaining SAM.

    Good for Kerry.

    Sh1te for everyone one else.

Mind you he could be ran out of the job after drawing with Tyrone in the league if the supporters and county board treat him the same way they did the last time

I also heard that Pat will not be back due to family commitments. The physical trainers position is vital as in my opinion they were not as sharp last year as other years! Rugby trainer? Not sure if thats the best way to go[nothing against Alan as i dont know of him] as the team are physical enough as they are.Maybe another trainer like Flanagan from an athletics background would be the way to go?
