Loss of Sky service

Have had sky for over a year. Just last week had HD installed - extra cable and a thompson HD box.
All day today have had no signal - 'No satellite signal being received'.
Coincidence? I know we had a bit of rain last night but surely there's been worse over the last year or so.

In signal test - Input 1 is alternating between 50% strength & 30% quality and 0% for both. Keeps flashing between the two.
Sky said they won't have someone out until Wednesday, despite contacting them this morning. Is this acceptable/normal?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated:D

Sounds unusual - water ingress into the LNB? From what I've read, the sealing of the F-connectors is vital if you're to avoid fatal damage to the LNB. If the person who installed didn't seal properly - preferably using self-amalgamating tape with silicone grease inside - it could explain this. Maybe?

He didn't have any single cable long enough to do the job so he had to join 2 together with a back to back. If that wasn't sealed up right and wasn't water tight could that be the issue? The thing is, neither cable is getting signal, so must be something more serious.
