    Hello,

I have a programme which I legally own. The problem is that all the text is protected ie: no copy and paste. If I highlight any text right-clicking the mouse does nothing. Is there a way around this ? I know some pdf files are protected in a similar way are they have work arounds available on the web so any help appreciated.

What is the program, and what data are you trying to get at ... is it just text ?

The programme you most likely will not have heard of http://www.bristol.gs/groundschool/atpl_computer_based_training.aspx . I just want to copy some parts of the text which is quite extensive to word to make my own personal notes.

You are right - I've never heard of that software :)

It appears to be more than simple text - there is mention of vector graphics and hyper-text.

Looking at the homepage, it appears to be specialised training software and is likely protected in some way.
In the terms & conditions of the software is there any reference to copying the text / images or content being prohibited ?

I'm not trying to be smart here - just observing - if you own the software you may not own the content, and trying to circumvent whatever protection is in place may be a breach of your EULA.

Question - are you able to print the text ?

Cannot print the text but you can print all images and charts.

I suspect it's not 'text' at all ... just images rendered to look that way.

What happens if you hit the Print Screen button ?

If you try CTRL+Print Screen do you get an image you can paste (in Word for example) ?

It is text. Look at the picture and the text on the right and image on the left http://www.bristol.gs/groundschool/atpl_computer_based_training.aspx . Note not all pages have and image just text. I can highlight portions of the text but right click does nothing. I am sure it is some sort of security feature. CTRL + print screen seems to do nothing

I suspect the content you are interested in not actually stored as text, I suspect it is stored in a protected or proprietary format and rendered to look like text.

If it cannot be printed, copied, or printed to a clipboard ... it sounds like it is protected, and probably for a good reason.

If it is specialised / training content, you may not actually own the content - just the right to view / render it ... same as a movie on DVD.

Does the license or Terms & Conditions of the software mention anything about copying the content ?
