anyone else using iphone and runkeeper app to track their runs? the phone is a bit clunky - but its certainly a novelty to be able to see your route on google-earth and check your speed and altitude cross ref'.

Hav'nt used it, but I think its a GPS device - like the Garmin forerunner devices - in a phone. What kind of prices are they. The forerunners range from 100eur to about 350eur for the latest models.

Haven't used it, but recently I have been using an iPod touch soemtimes while running (edit -- just for listening to music). These are the same as the iPhone (without the phone). What worries me, is that it's not waterproof. It's also rather bulky and unwieldy. It doesn't belong to me, so I wouldn't risk using it in wet conditions.

I have used the Nokia equivalent application SportsTracker which is one of their beta labs applications. It was pretty good at tracking the route with the GPS and it uploads the gpx tracks to their webpage for you all very well, it's just a pain dealing with carting a phone about with you so I oly tried it on a couple of runs where I was wearing my CamelBak as well. It's also a lot more difficult to stop and start the timer on the phone rather than a watch so wouldn't use it for anything other than curiosity.

You could also try: iMapMyRun from the MapMyRun folks (also available for biking). It's free. A friend is taking his for a run later this week, so I'll let you know how he gets on. He ordered a Belkin arm-strap too, which I presume is waterproof...

I'd imagine it's a lot more accurate than the Nike+ kit.

    Keeps track of:
    Total Time
Total Distance (in miles or kilometers)
Pace (minutes per km/mile) or current speed
    Average Speed / Pace (km/mile)
View your running maps directly on your iPhone
Training Log including Distance, Calories Burned, Time, and Date
