Wall insulation - solid block

Our semi-d was built during WW2 - no cavity block - the rooms on the gable end are cold - especially the spare room. It's a small room with either a window, a fireplace or door on each wall so insulated board is the least preferable option.

Has any one ever used an insulating wallpaper such as Sempatap? Would be interested to know what ideas you have!

Most insulation works on "resistance" and thickness. A thin t-shirt will keep you warm but a thick jumper will keep you alot warmer.
Insulation is the same principle - thin wallpaper "may" has an insulating value if it has an IAB Certificate but it will never be as good as high density foil board.

Window and door aren't a problem, is the fireplace used? If it isn't then insulating around it isn't a problem. You should block up the fire ope / chimney.

Or you could consider external wall insulation!
