Anybody out there working as a sales engineer?

I'm on the look out for a new job having being made redundant - have been working in R&D, Test and other technical roles for the last few years...

An opportunity to move into technical sales has come up and just wondering if anybody has any insights?

I guess every sales job is different but any general thoughts would be appreciated...thanks...

I seem to have done a bit of everthing .

In my experience it's a difficult jump.
Saleman deal in dream and other not of this world stuff.
Engineer are concerned with reality and what's possible.
Rarely do these two things meet.

So if your an Engineer at heart you will find it hard to put up with the nosence required in sales,
    and visa versa
if your sales you hate the detail and labourous nature of engineering.

    Just my 2c
