HI there I have been diving myself crazy with this, so here it is

I see a big dog - unbestimmt (indefinite) Ich sehe einen grossen hund

I see the big dog - bestimmt (definite) ich sehe den grossen hund

I see big dogs - bestimmt or unbestimmt ??????? I think unbestimmt but according to my rules there is no adjective endings for unbestimmt and plural - arghhhh

    Ich sehe einen (großen) Hund.

"Ich" is the subject of the sentence and "ein Hund" is the direct object. The subject takes the nominative case and the object takes the accusative case, which changes "ein" to "einen".

It's the exact same principle in the second sentence.

    Ich sehe den großen Hund.

"Der große Hund" changes to "den großen Hund".

The last one is, Ich sehe große Hunde.

Here, the adjective takes on the ending that the article would have (die). It's been a couple of years since I did proper German grammar though!
