    Hi, does anyone know what term should you agree to as a private tenant with a landlord?
    I thought a one year lease was normal with you having an option to leave after six months giving one months notice.

    Whatever term is agreeable to both of you? Most won't go for anything shorter than 6 months, some won't go lower than 12.
