I downloaded HM but when I go to open it off my desktop I get a message that reads:
    Holdem Manager
An error occurred while loading the Prefs files. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Can anyone help with this please.

Have you downloaded postgres? Are you using windows vista? What version did you download? Was it the full Zip file or without the installer?

i was struggling to get HM working, similar issues as yourself. I emailed their support email and got a very prompt reply. 2 emails later and "fabio" had remote access to my desktop, spent 5 mins setting it all up and making a few changes, and i was done. (then i deleted the remote access software).

couldnt recommend the support people enough, they were excellent.

lol... basically this guy took control of my PC, tried to run HM, the warning message came up and he typed "ah, i know what the problem is" in the chat box, opened up a web browser and downloaded a version of HM that i couldnt find linked anywhere on their site, he installed it, and hit run! so, apologies but still no real idea.

Basically, the error message i was getting was saying that HM couldnt locate x file from the "config" folder, my HM didnt have a "config" folder... not sure if its an error, or my install wasnt complete, or what, but i was missing something through no fault of my own from what i can tell.

i had downloaded postqres and iinstalled it, and changed the active user setting and everything. sorry cant help beyond that.

im a bit nocturnal, and as these lads are US poker folk they seem to be on my time. I was emailing them around midnight and getting fairly quick responses. they will look for you to download "www.teamviewer.com" software which will let one of their technicians have remote access to your desktop, you can watch everything as it happens so its all good.
