Hi there...I have been invited to the Uk to do some roe deer stalking and I am unsure of the requirements that need to be met to take firearms abroad.
The question at hand is: what will I need to do as far as a licencing(I currently have an irish firearms cert for a 223 and 6.5x55) And can I take a firearm on the ferry or plane....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Dwight

To get the visitors permit, you need a sponsor in the UK. The person who invited you should do. They apply on your behalf to the local police force.

You'll probably need to send them a copy of your Irish FAC and the original of your European Firearms Pass.

If you don't have a Europass, get one from your local Gardai. There's no application, just ask and they'll fill one out for you.

As for transport, some airlines and ferries will permit firearms others won't. Check beforehand. Aer Lingus does, Ryanair doesn't.

Never thought of that, I'd say get the Gardai to put the mod(s) on the Europass to be sure. Better have it and not need it...

Forgot to say, make sure you check out what the requirements are for hunting permits. I have no idea what the deal is for them. Your sponsor should know the score.
