    Ok guys

My Sky + failed but a different problem to some below. I have no red power botton and heard a large crack when it failed. I rang sky and they want me to buy a new box at €100. I have this just over a year. I am outraged as i have been a sky customer for near 20 years.

I have alot of stuff on box i want to see. Would it be worth my while bringing it to a local to have a peek. Would it cost me more than a new box?? I have emailed sky and complained to customer escalation department.

I see regular Joes getting boxes free and for 49 euro so why do i pay 100, madness.

Ring back, and tell them you want to cancel, as you're not getting treated properly. Good chance that you'll be offered a replacement box free, in order to keep you.

Under EU law A minimum warranty of two years
applies to all consumer goods sold in the EU.

Inform them of that and see what they say to you

if you had it just over a year then they should just replace it free of charge but are you telling us the full story? Only asking since you said you have been with Sky for nearly 20 years... Sky was officially launched on 1 October 1998 :D

That's odd. I remember watching Sky in 1990 on an Amstrad SRX100.

    +1

Go with this approach, you have nothing to loose! Cancel for a month and then re-join lol, they probably thought of that in the T&C's tho
