I have my first ever job interview tommorow at Argos and i'm very nervous about it . Its for a temporary job during Christmas. I'm not really sure what to expect, what questions they'll ask,and how to answer them. I keep thinking i'm going to make a fool of myself,i tend to do that when i get nervous :(

What if they ask me a question and i go blank?

Has anyone had an interview with Argos and if so what should i expect and what can i do to prepare?

I'd be grateful for any help :)

I would say competency is what they are looking for here.

ie Can you lift stuff, read serial numbers, work well in busy environment,
long hours on your feet, work well with other people, etc...

Do you have a job description of some sort? It should list the requirements for the person they want so make sure you're ready to tell them how you fit their criteria. Try to have a few examples of things you've done that would support this if you can.

I expect they'll be looking for someone who can fit into the team, learn quickly and deal well with customers, so just try to be friendly, courteous and have faith in your ability to do the job and you should be fine :)

    Good luck!

Don't worry yourself, the worst thing that can POSSIBLY happen is they don't give you the job :) That's all! If at any point you decide you don't want to be there, you can stand up, don't say a word, and just leeeeeeeeaaaaave! So y'see, it aint a big deal :)

Everyone has been through a first interview and it's nerve-wrecking! You'll feel relieved after :)

Yeah, i agree with the above, dont worry about it, given the position it is the interview wont be too taxing. Just stay calm, and think before you speak, just put yourself in the mindset of what they'd like to hear.

Not really such a good idea to stand up, say nothing and walk out - bit rude really! If you decide that you don't particularly want the job, stick the interview out cos it's good experience!
Let us know if you get the job!

True, the point I was making though is that the OP shouldn't be making themselves nervous by thinking that once they walk in they're at the mercy of the interviewer and if they go blank then they're f*cked and there's no escape! If you're aware that the power is in YOUR hands, and you can do whatever you want in there with the worst outcome (assuming you don't break the law :)) being that you don't get the job, then it makes it a little less intimidating :) I was sh*tting myself for my first interview

Well done. Even I applied to Argos (with loads of retail experience on me) but heard nothing so far.

I guess they do have a huge amount of applications.

But is it just me or do they only ever tend to hire young still-in-school people for these types of jobs there?

Do the argos job interviews take place in the store you apply to?

Argos is all about team players. Team - "Together Everyone Achieves More". They're BIG on this. Speedy, so you need to work well under pressure, as every transaction is timed from the moment they pay until they're picking up their item from collection. Positive, friendly attitudes too

The interview itself takes place in the store. But how you apply has all changed. Used to be simply handing in your CV. Now you must apply online answering a few customer service questions >> Then you will get a phone call screening you >> Then interview.

I originally thought the whole process is over-kill. But then I heard the sheer amount of people that apply for Argos. It wouldn't be unheard of to see 1000 applications per store this time of year. So they had to put something in place to screen people.
