Freezing problems with Little Big Planet

Is anyone else having problems with Little Big Planet freezing randomly. The picture freezes but the sound continues on. I though it may be just my copy of the game, but I just returned with a new copy from HMV and the same thing is happening.

After my XBox getting the RROD on Saturday, this isn't my best gaming weekend ever...

It could be the laser in the PS3, they have been reported alot lately. Its the blu ray of death, the PS3 seems to have its own version of the RROD. I'm guess it could be that, the only way to be sure is to try other games and then some demos for the hard drive.

Try deleting the LBP game data (500MB) in the Game Data folder of the PS3.

Whats your network connection like? LBP is always pulling, sending data from the servers and you could be locking the game up if your network connection is flaky.

Try playing off-line, not signed into PSN and see does it still freeze.

    +1 for what ongarite said.
    Also
It's down to the network ,theres absolutely loads of people playing the game at the moment.

My games improved a bit since I stuck in my ethernet cable ,I was only getting 50% signal on wifi though.
This is sony's pride and joy ,there bound to have it sorted quickly.

I have been playing it offline since it started freezing and theres no joy at all. It has started to seize less times since I disconnected the internet connection.

I'm off to try some Unreal 3 to see if theres any joy.

Just play a solid hour of Unreal 3, no problems whatsoever.

I reckon this has all been caused by the upgrade that I had to install to play LBP

Every other blu-ray works fine on it and BLP is brand new :(

Can you test it on a mates PS3 ? Or even test another copy of LBP on your PS3 ?

Some people are having issues like your own and what ongarite said about the save file ,within your gamedata folder for lbp . Delete that file .

It's been talked about else where and that has solved it for some people.

    Hi again,
yeah I read that deleting the save file has helped people, but I have already tried that and no success. I'm getting 10-15 minutes of play before it crashes.

Give it a few days ,online for me is a bit hit and miss. Normally I don't have any trouble at all ,with other games.

Have you tried deleting the gamedata file and trying the game again without an internet connection ?

    UPDATE:

With the freezing problem still annoying me, I decided to ring the Playstation Support number. They never heard of it, but suggested I delete the game data.

It then dawned on me, I was deleting the save data and not the game data (rereading comments here, I realised thats what people were alluding to!).

So, one I downloaded the game data again, it worked perfectly for about 3 hours...until it started freezing again.

With Sony apparently not realising there is much of a problem, I'm not sure what to do
